A Christmas Story
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his unflappable campaign to get Santa (or anyone else) to give him a "legendary official 200-shot carbine-action range-model air rifle." Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself, at Goldblatt's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out." This irresistible piece of Americana is guaranteed to warm the heart and tickle the funny bone.
"Thanks to Tennessee Repertory Theatre's wonderfully evocative production of the play, based on the iconic holiday movie, if I could possibly have another more satisfying theatre experience, I could scarcely dream it." Jeffrey Ellis broadway.com
Copeland says: "We had such an overwhelming response to A Christmas Story from everyone who came to see this show. While everyone was thoroughly entertained, it also seemed to touch folks on a gut level that made it very special. We had fun presenting it; audiences had fun watching it; and in some cases, being a part of it, so I can't say I was terribly surprised when, after every single performance, people urged us to bring it back. Our intention in re-mounting A Christmas Story is to give those folks who missed it a chance to see it, and to serve those folks who saw it but want to see it again. I know watching the movie is a holiday tradition for many, and I'd be delighted to think our production might have an equally special place in the hearts of our patrons."
